Glendronach Single Cask

En 2009, l'ancien maître distillateur Billy Walker s'aventurait chaque année dans les recoins les plus sombres des entrepôts de GlenDronach pour dénicher les fûts de whisky qui possédaient ce petit quelque chose, ce qui valait la peine de les embouteiller individuellement. Depuis mars 2017, c'est Rachel Barrie, la nouvelle maître assembleuse de la célèbre distillerie écossaise, qui se charge de cette sélection.
La majorité des single malts provient soit de fûts d'Oloroso Sherry, soit de puncheons de Pedro Ximenez (PX). Mais il y a aussi des hogsheads et des barriques disponibles. Différents fûts et leurs tailles variées contribuent à créer des whiskies uniques. Les fûts d'Oloroso Sherry apportent généralement des notes de fruits noirs, des arômes épicés de noix et une couleur rouge intense. Les fûts PX-Sherry offrent une douceur plus sirupeuse, des notes intenses de raisins secs et une couleur ambre foncé. 
Celle ou celui qui connaît déjà la gamme standard de la distillerie Highland sera ici confronté à des arômes familiers, très appréciés par les fans de Glendronach, mais qui peuvent également prendre une direction nouvelle et passionnante. Il s'agit donc d'explorer des nuances délicates et d'excellents fûts.
